For Paris, the Seine River is its heart and life blood. For a different perspective on the city of love, take one of the tour boats that cruise up and down the river, illuminating landmarks with powerful lights mounted on their sides.

You can cruise for a few hours or make a week of it and wind your way down the 777km river to Normandy via famous sights such as medieval Rouen where Joan of Arc was burned at the stake and Monet’s garden at Giverny with its Japanese bridge.

This photo of the Seine was taken by Joe deSousa on the Pont Neuf and shows the Galerie du Vert Galant at the tip of the Île de la Cité.
