The Oxford Westgate shopping centre is a great place to visit, but I think the real gem is their amazing roof terrace. Lunch, for respite from shopping. Post shopping cocktails. An evening out even. Great cocktails and amazing views are on offer.
Post pandemic, being able to drink and dine outside has become more important than ever, but added to that is the unparalleled panoramic view over Oxford from this fabulous roof terrace. Whist sipping your drink, you get to gaze out at the Spires of Oxford, a city famous for its history, academia and romanticism.
And by the way, it’s more of a roof village than a roof terrace. You’ll be totally spoilt for choice. I love The Alchemist for cocktails – it’s a real drinking experience and the food isn’t bad either. Another favourite of mine is Sticks’n’Sushi – the sushi is divine. Or try the NY inspired, Dirty Bones for comfort food and more cocktails. Those are three of my favourite but there are many other great venues; Victors, Mowgli, Pho, Pizza Pilgrims, The Breakfast Club and there’s even a Nando’s.
We must applaud the Oxford Westgate roof terrace for making dining alfresco easier, atmospheric and more fun than ever. Should I suggest for a cocktail bar crawl? Why not?
Each venue also offers inside dining and there’s covered seating on the terrace, just in case of an unusual bout of English rain, but honestly on a beautiful starry night there is no place that I would rather be.
