Welcome to Phra Nang Cave Beach, Karabi, Thailand.

Tucked away on the east side of Railay Beach near Krabi in Thailand, is a cave full of disturbingly realistic phallic-shaped statues. Hundreds of them in all shapes and sizes. Many have colourful fabrics tied around their, um, ‘necks’ like jaunty scarves.

Phallic shrine to a goddess

Tucked away on the east side of Railay Beach near Krabi in Thailand, is a cave full of disturbingly realistic phallic-shaped statues. Hundreds of them in all shapes and sizes. Many have colourful fabrics tied around their, um, ‘necks’ like jaunty scarves.
The lingams are offerings to a powerful female spirit, Phra Nang. Local fishermen believe a phallic gift will result in a good catch and Thai locals ask for help with matters such as conceiving a child. Tourists just stand around gawping. Did we mention that part of the cave looks like a vagina? Phra Nang Cave Beach is only accessible by boat.
