The Global McDonalds
McDonalds can be found everywhere from Thailand – to Shenzhen – to Switzerland – offering local variations on the American menu. In Chicago, you can try customised global fast food and taste the difference. Story: Holiday Goddess Editors.
McDonalds has a policy of designing its restaurants to fit in with local culture and adapting its U.S. offerings to suit local taste.
In Thailand, for example, Ronald McDonald can be found making the Namaste hand greeting.
McDonald’s Global Menu Restaurant
For true McDonalds fans, Chicago has become a must-visit, with the world’s only international menu to choose from.
McDonald’s Global Menu Restaurant offers the local Japanese favourite, Teriyaki Chicken Filet-O and India’s Big Spicy Paneer Wrap. You can also try McSpaghetti.
McDonald’s Global Menu Restaurant has been open there since 2018, giving Chicago’s West Loop locals a chance to try food only sold in their foreign outlets. Crisscut chips, or fries, are Malaysian – they taste like potatoes, but look like miniature waffles.
McSpicy fried chicken sandwiches from Hong Kong and a Philly Cheese Stack courtesy of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland are also on offer, although the menu changes regularly. What is hot one minute, may be gone the next.
International McDonalds’ favourites including McPops with Biscoff, white chocolate or berry flavours are on the menu. The Swiss prefer the latter.
There’s French Vanilla coffee and Chinese sweet’n’sour sauce for dipping. Hot picante salsa too. Uber delivers,or drop in to see what’s on offer.
