Lady GaGa is not the only fan of The Lanesborough Hotel in Knightsbridge. Madonna, Jim Carrey and Leonardo diCaprio have all checked into this former hospital – now the only place to stay if your budget is around US$14,00o per night. Well – the views do include Buckingham Palace.
The good news is, you can drink like GaGa in London this summer, even if you have no intention of checking into the hotel’s Royal Suite. The Suite is so exclusive that only a handful of staff even know its location in the hotel – but the bar is open and waiting for you.
The Library Bar is old-school and just a little bit old-man, but that’s part of the Lanesborough’s charm. It’s hard to believe the building is a former hospital as it’s so glamorous. It certainly has healing powers, though. Or at least its cocktail list does.
With a barman creating gold-inspired Olympic drinks through July and August, and some heavenly Chesterfields to sink into, it’s hard to beat the Lanesborough for Gaga-esque thrills. Even if you don’t have her hair or holiday budget.
