Kris McIntyre

I’m a freelance writer, editor and strategic communications consultant. But I tend to describe myself more as a ‘brand storyteller and corporate journalist’. My job is to help people and organisations, (both big and small), tell their story better.

As a strategic communications consultant, I have more than 22 years’ experience in brand and marketing communications working as a senior writer and editor, communications director, content strategist, brand marketing manager, content producer and television host.

Working with Sydney-based strategic brand consultancy, Generation Alliance, since 2009, I have worked on complex brand and communications projects for clients across a wide range of sectors including: international trade and development, government (from local councils through to multilateral and United Nations agencies), corporate citizenship, agribusiness, retail, construction and public-private partnership bids.

As a freelance consultant, I work independently or as an extension of both in-house and agency teams to deliver strategic communications and writing services. I specialise in long-form writing and verbal asset development – turning brand strategies into content. But what really makes me tick is fuelling my curiosity about business and how the world works through people’s stories.

As a freelance travel, wellness and lifestyle writer, I have been a regular contributor and feature writer to Holiday Goddess, body +soul (Sunday Telegraph, NewsLifeMedia), Australian Yoga Journal, dumbo feather magazine, MiNDFOOD, Spa Life Magazine and marie claire magazine (South Africa).

I also co-authored ‘Strike a Pose – Yoga for Switched on Living’ (Pan McMillan 2002) and was a contributor to ‘The Holiday Goddess Guide to Paris, New York, London, Rome’ (HarperCollins 2011).

Prior to becoming a communications consultant, I spent 15 years in the hotel and travel industry working as group brand marketing manager for Peppers Hotel Group and later as the Group Synergies Manager for Stella Group (now Mantra and Stella Travel Services).

I’ve also worked in the media unit of the Australian Red Cross, was the founder of Exchange for Change – a fundraising campaign in support of Oxfam Australia’s youth program, 3things, and in 2015 launched my latest project, Sacred Women’s Business – a platform for exploring women’s spirituality.
