Welcome to Inverness, Scotland.

The United Kingdom has much to offer a traveller and Scotland is like a crown Jewell. The Scottish Highlands are breathtaking, with locks and mountains aplenty. We took the sleeper train - Caledonian Express - from London to Inverness, it was an exciting way to travel and felt like a big part of the trip. However we had one fixation, we wanted to find the Loch Ness Monster.

The United Kingdom has much to offer a traveller and Scotland is like a crown Jewell. The Scottish Highlands are breathtaking, with locks and mountains aplenty. We took the sleeper train – Caledonian Express – from London to Inverness, it was an exciting way to travel and felt like a big part of the trip. We arrived in Inverness in the morning, after a breakfast we set off for the hotel. Inverness is a small city but with plenty to do and see. However we had one fixation, we wanted to find the Loch Ness Monster. Unbelievably the first recorded sighting of the Loch Ness Monster was 5654 AD by St Columbus. Although many think this creature is totally made up, there have been other reported sightings since and many a documentary made abut it. There was even a film. The sightings really began in 1933, and after media got involved, and the famous photo was taken. So, when we took our place on the boat, we were following a well trodden path. It was cold, but then Scotland in October is, and the boat was rockier than I expected, which made me think maybe there was a monster after all – or just a strong lake current. After an hour of searching the trip was over. No monster, but we had enjoyed a bracing boat trip and seen some stunning Scottish sights. It’s definitely worth a visit, monster or no monster.
