Jennifer Johnson looks at vintage Kate Moss collections and campaign clothes.
She’s appeared on Oasis singles and shown up in videos for the White Stripes and Sir Paul McCartney.
She’s sung with Primal Scream and even turned up in Blackadder as Maid Marian. Kate’s an icon.
Shopping for Moss classics can be a mission (John Galliano designed her wedding dress, but yours might be very pricey) or a miracle (that Topshop top with her brand).
Where do you begin, though?
Kate Moss on Ebay
As you might expect, the majority of Topshop Kate Moss garments here are small sizes. So, UK size 8 and 10. Like the model, herself.
The prices are also small, though. We found a Great Gatsby sequin dress (inspired by Kate’s parties) for around one-quarter of its new price, even all those years ago.
The rock festival sun dresses were also decent bargains and we did find a size 12 (so not Kate-sized then). Just right for Glastonbury again one day?
Some pieces are rare, like a purple maxi dress. Most desirable are garments actually modelled by her at the time. So, her Panther dress which appeared on eBay (pictured). With or without a cigarette.
“Whenever I conjure up images of my teenage era,” says Cosmopolitan’s Kimberley Bond, “I immediately think of the item of clothing I spent literal years coveting. It was quite a simple dress; black, form-fitting, with three-quarter-length sleeves and a hemline so short it flirted with indecency. It was the mesh detailing that made it special: a print of a panther draped over the shoulders, complete with silver sequinned claws.”
From 2030 it’s Vintage
The Topshop collection has history so we are now almost in standard ‘vintage’ territory (vintage must be at least 20 years old to qualify; from 2030 these bargains will begin to climb in value).
Kate Moss’s partnership with Topshop, owned by retailer Sir Philip Green’s Arcadia group, first began in May 2007, and ended in 2010.
More recently Moss has also collaborated with Zara.

Kate’s Own Wardrobe
Best of all, is a piece from Kate’s own wardrobe at a charity auction.
She recently gave her Louboutin heels in the Diary of a Wardrobe auction in aid of the end-of-life charity Marie Curie.
The event was the brainchild of Absolutely Fabulous actress Jane Horrocks, who has been working with Marie Curie for years. Kate was of course a cameo star in the film.
