Mick Herron’s London

Charles Wright, from OnLondon, says, “In a long line of British espionage fiction writers, Slough House series author Mick Herron (“foremost living spy novelist in the English language,” New Statesman) takes London as his prime setting. And his rich portrayal of the contemporary city, not so much a backdrop as almost a character in its own right, is a large part of his stories’ appeal.”

Jackson Lamb and Mick Herron

Mick Herron, Jackson Lamb’s creator, won the Crime Writers’ Association 2013 Gold Dagger for Dead Lions and the Diamond Dagger in 2025 for lifetime achievement.

Now in its fifth series on Apple TV, it has made Gary Oldman famous all over again and he was recently knighted by Prince William.

While knighting Oldman, Prince William told the Slow Horses star that every time he sees the actor on screen as MI5 agent Jackson Lamb in the hit Apple TV+ show, he wants to ”give him a good wash”.

Don’t let that put you off the walk, though.

From there it’s on to Leadenhall Market, Gracechurch Street, London EC3V 1LT England and then the Royal Exchange Building London, Threadneadle St Mansion House.

The walk continues with stops including Bank Junction, where some of the key scenes of the show are set. You’ll end at Leadenhall Market.
